The iPud Wordpress Application

Friday, December 26th, 2008

If you go to the App Store on your iPud (touch or phone) you can find some little apps to add to your device. Some of them are clearly crap and I guess you have to try some out to find out just how useful they are. Hopefully you won't have to pay to try out the ones you might want (especially if they turn out to suck). This entry is being written by using the Wordpress app. It uses the same keyboard as the regular full site and I still don't see any decent way to select text or add links or navigate through text or edit saved posts or edit the HTML directly. Hmmm, seems the only advantage is that it can save me the trouble of typing in my credentials all the time. Wait a minute, is cached credentials a good idea?

Well Damned If Apple Didn't Do It

I am actually writing this entry on an iPud Touch (sometimes referred to as an iPod Touch). It does have a small keyboard and it has the ability to become a big fat advertising medium but it is kind of nifty considering there's no service to buy for it. I wanted to get me a portable device that could do primarily email and maybe some contacts. I saw plenty of Crackberries (sometimes known as Blackberries) around but then I figured I would get hosed into some shitty contract or "plan" that would require buying into some company I know I'll hate in three months.
This iPud connects to regular wireless networks (sometimes known as 802.11) and supports both WEP and WPA encryption. It lets me surf be do email anywhere I can find a wireless network. I was a little worried that it would not be able to use my personal email which is handled by Google Apps but it is just fine. Hopefully I will figure out how to select text with this thing so I will be able to add some links with the Wordpress WYSIWYG editor eh?
